pore down

This will be the last Tip of 2011 as I am going to be traveling with family in the south of Minas over the festive season.

Drive carefully if you are traveling and I hope it doesn’t pour down if you plan to have a barbecue instead of turkey for Christmas dinner !!!

The Daily English Tips will be back in January.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family.

Definition: to rain heavily.

E.g.1. It’s pouring down outside! Take my umbrella.
E.g.2. We can’t have a barbecue; it’s pouring down!

This phrasal verb can’t be separated.
