Definition: to fell a tree or tall plant i.e. to cut it so that it falls to the ground.
(This phrasal verb has more than one meaning)
E.g.1: They cut many trees down in order to create land which was suitable for farming.
E.g.2: Some trees can take over 100 years to reach maturity, but it only takes a few minutes to cut them down.
This phrasal verb can be separated. (E.g. 1 and 2)
